Public i Rhythm and Blues Orchestra is the real thing. Public i plays authentic R&B: real "soul" music with energy, passion, and feeling. This is not "4 guys in tuxedos" playing bad versions of "Proud Mary" or "Celebration." Public i is not your typical "wedding band."
Being good, however, is not always enough. Some events (especially weddings) call for the entertainment to be versatile as well. Public i is also a group of talented musicians with the ability to play many styles well: Motown, funk, rock, ethnic, jazz standards, (and even classical or Flamenco music for ceremony, cocktails, and dinner). Public i has proven this over the past 16 years in more than 2100 performances at universities, festivals, concert series, clubs, private and corporate parties, and weddings in Chicagoland and the Midwest. Public i has been the featured act at Wrigley Field, Taste of Chicago, Celebrate State Street, and The United Center. The group has performed for the Marriott Corporation, Shell Oil Company, Wendy's Corporation, and ClubMed (in Huatulco, Mexico). Additionally, Public i has performed to rave reviews at wedding receptions held all over the Chicagoland area including: the Hotel Intercontinental, the Palmer House Hilton, Cafe Brauer, The Drake, the Cultural Center, and most major country clubs in Northern Illinois. All the members of Public i are professional musicians with hundreds of shows and some impressive achievements to their credit. The band includes: Gerald McClendon (lead vocalist), Marty Silber (vocals, electric keyboards, piano) , Carlo Basile (electric guitar, classical and Flamenco guitar, vocals), Joe Pratt (bass, vocals), and Randy Antlept (drums, vocals). The basic Public i wedding performance features the 7 or 9 piece band for three 50 min. sets of music after dinner. Cocktail and Dinner music is available featuring Public i's "dynamic duo" (Carlo and Marty).
